Team Policy Debate Webinar on the 2018-19 Resolution

Wednesday, November 7, 2018

3:30pm PST

In this webinar, there are no lectures on debate theory, no lab groups, and no practice rounds. The focus is on learning about the resolution.

The ideal debate season starts with head-knowledge about the resolution, and the featured speaker will provide this directly to you.  This is a great opportunity to interact with an expert on the labor policy topic—an expert who just might be well-quoted this debate season.

Head-knowledge, resources, and case ideas are the fruit of this concentrated, one hour lecture on the 2018-19 LFA team policy debate resolution.  Don’t miss this chance to see and hear one of our nation’s experts address the labor policy debate!

Speaker: Michael Farren of the Mercatus Center

Michael is a Research Fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.

His research focuses on the effects of government favoritism toward particular businesses, industries, and occupations, specializing in labor, economic development, and transportation issues.

Michael has testified before state legislature on various topics and his research and commentary have been featured in numerous media outlets, including the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Newsday, the Miami Herald, The Dallas Morning News, and NPR. He blogs about economics and economic policy at Concentrated Benefits.

Michael received his PhD in applied economics from Ohio State University and received the Frédéric Bastiat Fellowship from the Mercatus Center. He is also licensed as a Professional Engineer and received his MS in transportation engineering and BS in civil engineering from Ohio State University.
